2009 CMRA Season Opener at Oak Hill

Well, his truck is loaded with one freshly tuned bike featuring sweet white plates, a new super fast helmet and brand-spanking new Joe Rocket Speedmaster gloves and he's ready to hit the road to Oak Hill for the 2009 CMRA Season Opener. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do pit duty this round (Boy Scout event on Sunday) and it's bumming me out .

Thanks for the support everyone. Especially to ONE for the paddock help and NOT wearing anything too revealing. Had a blast getting on the track so early this year. I barely made the deadline for pre-registration so my grid positions for all the races were a bit scenic. There were tons of fast AMA level guys on hand for a good show too. One very memorable moment comes to mind as the green flag flew on the C Superstock race. Danny Eslick, who must have post registered because he was gridded right behind me, absolutely flew by me off the start like he was shot out of a cannon. Man that guy can launch!!

I raced C Superstock, C Superbike and F40 with F40 and C Superbike back to back. Both C class races I made up some good positions and had a blast making passes on the very narrow surface of Oak Hill. I'll have to check the results once they're posted because I took little notice of final position with so many fast guys starting in front of me. I was more intent on getting good lap times, testing out the refreshed bike, and seeing how well my winter training had paid off. I actually lead the first few laps of F40, but made a stupid mistake that cost a few positions. My pace was faster than the leaders, but I couldn't manage to get back around Sam McDonald on his R1 (Yes THAT Sam McDonald of 250 AMA Championship fame). I could close up on him in the corners, but the liter power would leave me again after every turn. I ended up on the last step of the podium right behind Sam. So I was very pleased with the day. Ty Howard broke his previous lap record in the 1:22 ballpark by setting a 1:21.9 something while my best was a 1:26 flat. ONE got some good pics, I hope, so I look forward to sharing some of those.....well only the ones that make me look fast.

It was great to be there. I would've liked to be able to help out more but I was scared shit-less of braking something on your bike that would prevent you from racing...
That bent rotor issue... call them and bitch at them.
I took almost 400 pictures. I went through them last night and deleted a bunch since they were bad ones. I'm sure most are garbage but I saw a few with potential. I'll pm you later to figure out how to get them to you.

On your second race you were much faster than any other rider near you. I was convinced you were going to take first place. Next time we need to agree on some pit signals. I think you could have benefited from it.
    That was some great racing...
After seeing your racing style, next year you might want to bring a motard... The force was definitely with you... twice.
Some of those AMA guys were a little bit fast.

That track seems like a lot of fun. I was itching to get out there and show off my style.

A podium on the first out as an expert When all the fast guys head off to NASBIKE you should be telling of on firsts

    I hate you...

Well at least the fact that your riding so early in the season.

    hahaha

All kidding aside, congrats on some awesome results. Can't wait to see you go by at grattan this year. Sounds like your riding has improved a LOT since I first met you at grattan a couple of years ago. Can't wait to hear about the rest of the season.
