Warbird Racing Off Season Prep

I've been spending way too much money!

Like I mentioned before I got a sponsorship from Suomy. 50% of MSRP, and I have to buy 2 helmets. So it's sort of buy one get one free. I'm expecting them in February and will post when they arrive.

I dropped 900 bucks at MPH Ohio having my frame fixed, forks freshened, and geometry set up. Turns out my lowside in June shortened my frame 3.3 mm. Can't wait to ride on a bike that's actually set up! These are great guys. They explained everything to me, and even showed me a better way of strapping the bike into the truck/trailer.

I sent my leathers to Alexa Krueger at Spyder Leather Works to have some artwork done. Can't wait to see it. Hope my wife doesn't get pissed.

I've got engine case covers coming from Moto R. Father of Matt Lynn, Fast by Ferracci MV Agusta racer.

I need to get a torque wrench and a big arse socket to fit my countershaft sprocket. That little bugger seems to want to back out, and it fried the sensor for the speedo.

I've got a new chain coming as the one on the bike didn't have a rivet style master link.

Bodywork is at Dad's to get painted like a blue 04 GSXR 750.

Suzuki Team shirt w/ my name stitched should arrive at work today.

I need to inspect the clutch, and may replace it just b/c.

Planning to get a hitch for the car, and use my brother's trailer for the season. So I'll need to pick up a wheel chock.

The first race is March 31/April 1 at Putnam. It's a little early, but I can't wait!!!

A better way to tie down your bike? How were you doing it before?

You do know that a mandatory post of warbird racing results will be necessary for the rest of us to read

The new way uses soft ties around the forks near the front axle making a hard mount rather than canyon dancer on the clip ons which is a soft mount and can twist the forks if you aren't careful.

Makes sense. The soft loop around the forks is the way I have been doing it for awhile. I think a mechanic said it would be easier on my forks as well. Nice to know though

What kind of head is a Suomy head? Currently I have an AGV that fits me well...but it's a Rossi rep and I'm on a Nicky rep bike I've been eyeing Suomy helmets but never seen one in a store to actually try one on.

Sorry, I can't really help. I know that Arai is probably the only other helmet that fits me better, and that I had a KBC that didn't fet well at all.

3 oil filters
1 gallon of Repsol full synth
1 bottle of Redline
1 can of Honda polish
2 Crankcase gaskets
1 Road Racing World magazine

130 bucks.

And I broke the news to my wife about the work I'm having done to the leathers, and the Held gloves. She didn't even flinch. Somethings up......

HD I would like to do the Putnam race especially with someone like you to show a noob the ropes. What would be the quickest way to get a licence by that time? The bike I would guess is race ready now but if i did need to do something to it I would have plenty of time do do adjustments.

D, I wish you the best luck this season. Don't neglect all that cheap track time at Grattan this June.. especially with abtech to show you every crack in the pavement.

My sport chock is already worth it's weight in gold when putting the race bike in the truck. No kickstand is tough when you are loading all your stuff up at 4:00 am by yourself. I know they are expensive but man is it nice not to have to grab a rear stand each time you come off the track also. Good luck with your season!

Good luck D! I'm getting a late start on my track bike, but I'm hoping to have it done by the time our season starts here! Can never take the track away from me, I'll lose my mind. My wife is ok with it too, and I agree with ya, something is always up when they say nothing negative about it!

I think your bike is pretty well set up. It's wired and everything already right? The hardest part in order for you to do the Putnam round would be to get the license. You have to take 2 classes.

Hey, Shrub!

Great to have an SV guru in the house.

Probably going to do at least one WERA round at Nelson. The one at Grattan might be hard to swing, but I'm being hopefull.

CBRVFR,

I assume you know who Zoran is right? I'm lucky enough to get to ride with him regularly since we both frequent the same trackday organization. He is the true SV guru as you probably know. So pretty much every track day I'm surrounded by 15 other SV racers. It's pretty nice having that support. You are on a second gen it looks like right? I still have never ridden one but a friend has a nice class winning 2003 that he is selling. I keep asking him to bring it to a trackday so I can try it out but so far haven't had the chance.

Now I have to figure out how to get my post count up to what it is over at Fireblades..... I missed being a founding member by about 6 months I think so perhaps being one of the first here we are all considered founding members?

I will look at the Fastrax site and check but, does Fastrax accept other race schools credintials like wera does? I know going through Fastrax it gets pretty c
