Werd. What'cha need to know? Where are you from?

I've done two seasons. One of mini-enduance, and one of sprints. This year will be all sprints.

Re: anybody racing Fasttrax

Excellent. I did my undergrad at BG.

First, surf around Fasttraxlive.com if you haven't already. Some good info there including the rulebook.

Second, I'm assuming that you don't have your race license yet so you need to do that. You have two options:
  1. Take a race school from someone other than FT. Many of the were guys recomend Ed Bargy, but there are many others out there.
  2. Take the Advanced Street School and then the New Racer School via FT. This is what I did. The Advanced Street was a great class and got me addicted to the track. It was my first track experience. The New Racer School was less than stellar, but I have a feeling that it'll be better this year. I'll get into details at another time.
You should probably track/race prep your bike before you take any schools, although it's not necessary to have everything wired for the advanced street.

Races are once a month and all are at Nelson w/ the exception of Putnam on March 31/April 1. Entry for sprints is $195 for 3 classes, IIRC.

Nelson is an old, "quaint", bumpy, fast race track w/ a bad reputation. The reputation is somewhat justified as there are definaely sections that are dangerous (walls too close, bumpy runoff), but the track is still a lot of fun, and if you are not in the top quartile of riders I think many of the risks are mitigated. But it's fast regardless.

Re: anybody racing Fasttrax

Cool I work at BG. As far as the track I am a grattan whore so i know all about bumpy lol. I have a provisional novice license right now from team chicago. My bike is already fully setup. I ride an 04 R1 but the bike we want to run endurance races on is a zx6rr. I am by no means a FAST guy but I do ok. I want to more or less just have fun with a little bit of compitetion. I will definately be picking your brain when it gets a little closer. I have done about 25 trackdays in the last couple years and just want to give racing a try.

thanks for the help. It is well appreciated

Grattan is nowhere near as bumpy as Nelson's.

If you are taking the correct line it's not that bad.

Sweet. Well you should apply for the Fasttrax license and come out to Putnam.

OH SNAP! In your face! I'll be at putnam, but as a spectator only. My wife wants me to take a supervisor to make sure I don't get on a bike. "Don't worry sweetie, I won't get on a bike...."

How's that healing, Nick?

I admire your racing aspirations after your injury. Did you get rid of the CBR, or is it still around? And you be careful, dammit.

Yeah, the 600 RR is gone as of yesterday as a matter of fact. The leg is good. I start rehab in a 2 weeks. No more crutches, but a good limp. I'll be back in the game in time for Team Chicago.

Well, Nicky you know I'm hoping the best for you cause I don't think I can handle Riz and Brian on my own.

BTW... talk about Deja Vue.... 2006 all over again except with more speed, smoothness, and experience.
