CCS GP @ HPT day 1

Well this will not be nearly as fun to read as Bwhip's account, but here it is.

MWSB EX and AM combined:

AM start from the second wave, but in poll position. I lead most of the race, but got hung up in traffic (darn slow experts from the first wave) and second place made a good pass on me. So I finished second.

F-40 EX and AM combined:

Lead the AM pack from the start and never looked back. Bwhip's advice about "really wanting it" helped. Thanks whip! Started passing those darn slow experts again, but was able to get by some of them and bested my previous time after I got some clear track.

that is all

Nice work. A second and a first is great. Are you going to make it up to Mid-America this year?

You bet I AM!!! Think he was still grinning this morning . Here's a pic of him in a rare moment when his hand was free from all the high-fives in the garage.

Just be thankful I didn't attempt it in French.

*UPDATE DAY 2*

MWSB EX & AM combined:

Was able lead from the start to stay ahead of Ryan Kemp, the guy who beat me yesterday, but now a new fast guy showed up and kicked my butt. I was running 1:55s and he flew by my on lap 4 running 1:52s. He is faster than a lot of the expert riders. <under my breath> Damn punk So I settled for another 2nd.

F-40 EX & Am combined:

Lead the first 5 laps then caught the straggler experts again (man I gotta work on my passing). While trying to get around a couple experts that were dicing it up second place crept up on me. I mis-shifted and second place took advantage of it right before the white flag. After that I couldn't regain the lead....ssssooooooo..... I settled for yet another 2nd.

MWSS EX & AM combined:

Damn....what a meat grinder. By this time I'm on the same set of tires for my 5th sprint race and two mornings worth of practice sessions. The rear is getting pretty shagged so I'm just trying to stay afloat. Got the holeshot, but missed a down shift into turn one and tried to exit one gear too high. By the time I got my gearing and line corrected they were all over me. (I later found out that my shift linkage was working lose from the shaft, which explains my error earlier) The racing was pretty tight and guys were moving all over the place...too messy for my liking. Although I did witness a pretty smooth save from a high-side right in front of me. So I just settled into a comfortable pace and tried to stay clear of the mayhem. Bottom line; I squeaked into the top 10 by finishing 9th.

One race left for tomorrow in MWSS again. This time I'll start with fresh rubber.

p.s.

Thanks Dunlop, Vortex, Vesrah, PowerStands

I have board review all weekend and I'm already skipping it on the 26th so that I can be at the Ducati Revs Mid-America event. They're allowing test rides all day and I want to park myself on a 1098. So I probably won't make anything on the 24th or 25th. Too bad cuz I would like to watch some racing.

1098? What happened to the 848? I saw a white one at work this week. It was beautiful.

Great work and congratulations again!!!

If you would have spent a couple more days with me you'd have been ready for all first places.

Naaaah, just patience and consistency will do it. I know you know it, but I'm telling you anyways. Winning races feels good, but the objective is winning the championship. Keep up the good job!!!!

Still definitely want an 848, and at some point I'll have one but I figure with a chance like this I might as well experience the "full meal deal." Ducati Omaha has an 848 demo bike and they have emailed me a couple times telling me to come over and ride it. So I can ride the 848 anyway, I might as well see what the 1098 feels like.

Final results

Thanks for all the congrats and such!!! Here are the last results from today. Only one race today which was MWSS, affectionately known as "the meat grinder".

MWSS EX & AM combined:

Well this time I started with fresh rubber (man I love new tires) and they performed flawlessly. I got a much better start and only got squeezed out of turn one because it is a right hander and the guy to my right matched my launch. I only had the pre-race hot lap to scrub in the new tires so my first lap was still a little off pace. But I was able to hang with first place and on the second lap I made my move. From there on I couldn't believe how well the bike was hooking up. I managed to improve my times by more than 2 seconds. Alas, I was not able to hold off the super fast guy from the previous races until the checkered and he got me...... AGAIN. But I'll gladly take my 2nd place points as I know "fast dude" probably won't be around again until the next national event at RA.

So as far as the season opener goes I've got a good standing in the points for all three classes that I'm running, MWSB, MWSS, and F-40. I'm looking forward to building on that toward my championship goal.

Thanks go out to Dunlop, Vortex, Vesrah, and PowerStands and of course my very understanding wife.

You should get DJ Chyk stickers made to put on the bike. Can't get any other sponsors without sponsor #1.
