To Think Last Week I Couldn't Spell "Raser"...

And now I are one!

A slow as cold molasses one, but it is official. I took the Penguin basic School on Friday, rode practice Saturday, and raced once on Sunday. All without serious incident.

I hated the whole thing.

I will post more on this later, right now I have to call Realtors and get the properties sold. Then get to work ordering tires and paying race entries, etc...

Couple pics, have to wait for the better ones I didn't take:
1: Getting ready for practice, er, I mean "qualifying".
2: My bike.
3: The slow way into turn 7.
4: Some Canadian celebrity, I think...

One of many half naked people, of both sexes, that populated the event.

Yeah same here, my car said 0F when I drove to church yesterday at 1pm. The wind was blowing 35mph on top of it.

Anyway, that's awesome I can't wait until the planets align so that I can start racing.

awesome. how'd you do in the race?

I wanted to get my license back when I took the class but I had work that weekend so it was just the friday class for me. I still have pretty much this whole season to do the rookie race to get my license so maybe I'll do it just for fun.

Congrats brother. Now you can officially hand over your bank account information and all credit cards to the tire distributor, race director and parts guy.

And this week you still can't spell "couldn't". You'll get there one day, don't worry.

Congrats Doc!

Congrats Doc!
what are you talking about? That was after I went back and "fixed it" once.

Thanks, Z, and to all of you for the well wishes and condolences.

What a great day that was! It was quite hard to be at the track and not be able to get on it.... I guess you can compare it to going to a strip club with your wife ( Hi V )

The Doctor did real good!! He was a little nervous but still fun to hang around with Here's some pics of him in action, mostly turn 12 and 14. Next time I'll be riding too

Thursday morning I left Fort Myers heading across the state to Fort Lauderdale. I sent the forks and shock from the GXSR into GMD Computrack to be rebuilt and set up for my weight after Grattan. I installed them but had never done anything with the settings. Rather than possibly mess it up myself, or worry that I had, I took it to GMD Computrack in Lauderdale to have the sags and clickers set correctly. That went well, and shortly after I had dinner with Jetbdude and hung around with him in Fort Lauderdale that night.

Went down to Homestead Motor Speedway Friday morning. I took the Penguin Basic Roadracing school. It included quite a bit of classroom time in the AM ,then on track instruction and free lapping. It was very helpful with race procedure and track orientation.

Saturday morning registration started at the track at 8 AM followed by tech inspection. Tech took quite a while, LOTS of bikes. Immediately following practice opened up. By the end of the day I got in four sessions, and felt fairly comfortable with the track.

There were plenty of "incidents" that day, the crash truck was busy. One time bringing in four bikes at once. The heart breaker on board being what had been a beautiful Ducati 996 that went through the school with us on Friday. The post crash results were horrible! The rider escaped virtually without incident, thankfully!
