Another new motard?

I'm not quite sure where to put this thread, but has anyone else heard or seen any more about this thing?
MCN: The UK's number 1 motorcycling magazine
Pricey, but very intriguing.

Not just unique looking, but a unique engine as well.

I'm rather curious as to why they've decided to put some effort into making motorcycle engines.

Re: Another new motard?

Seems like a bad idea to me.

Why mess about with a bike?

I'm sure they'll sell them...but it cheapens the brand IMO.

What next, Chinese made bikes with prancing horse logos on them?

Re: Another new motard?

That's exactly why I wonder. They are keeping the price point up to lessen the "cheapening", but still..............why?
Do their engineers maybe see an advantage Honda has with F1/MotoGP engine development maybe going hand in hand? Do they want some of the same action?
Would there be much advantage from an engineering standpoint to developing a moto engine alongside a car engine?
Sure, it would be more expensive, but will doing so make the engineers find things that can bleed over into one another?

I just don't understand why. They won't sell hardly any of them, so what's the point?

Re: Another new motard?

I don't think there's enough carry over to warrant it.

Put those same engineers on F1, or street cars, to focus on what they're truly great at, and quit messing around with some manager's pet project.

By next year, you'll see at least a dozen puttering around Malibu.

High-end posers; a status toy.

Re: Another new motard?

LTL - Didn't Ferrari have a hand in the MV radial valve engine design?

I'm surprised it's a SM rather than a sportbike.
